I
was born in Tel Aviv in 1964. My first
musical instrument was the harmonica,
followed by accordion and acoustic
guitar. At age 19 I have added bass
guitar and immediately started to play
double bass seriously. I have studied at
the Tel Aviv Academy for Music and then
continued to pursue studies in classical
music in Holland, at The Hague’s Royal
Conservatorium. Upon my return to Israel
I joined the Opera Orchestra where I had
learnt a lot about drama and music.
Along with the orchestral work I had
started composing music for theatre
plays, TV series and theatre dance
performances. I have studied piano for
ten years recently started playing
cello.
In 2008 I was nominated for an Emmy
Award for music and sound in HBO
documentary ‘To die in Jerusalem’
directed by Hilla Medalia. This had
brought me to the USA for a few months,
where I had met Sara Terry and composed
music for her documentary film ‘Fambul
Tok’ featuring reconciliation meetings
in Sierra Leon. This by itself was an
challenging experience in combining
world and cinematic music.
Currently I am playing double bass at
the Israel Chamber Orchestra and
inspired by the classical orchestra I
create acoustic sound and live nuances
by combining live instruments and
electronic samples. All live instruments
are recorded live at studios by me and
other professional musicians. |
